Is AI Good Enough to Replace My Front Desk?

The honest answer for med spa owners considering AI.

We get asked this question a lot. The answer is no. Full stop.

A lot of companies in our space are going to tell you the opposite. They'll tell you that AI can completely replace your front desk, that you'll never have to worry about hiring, training, or scheduling staff again. That you can run a leaner operation with the same results.

It's just not true. And honestly, anyone telling you that doesn't understand med spas.

The reason people come to your med spa

The reason patients keep coming back to you isn't your booking software. It's the experience of walking through your doors and being greeted by someone who knows them. Maybe you offer them something to drink. They talk about their kids, you ask about that vacation they mentioned last time, you remember that they just got promoted. There is an innately human experience that happens when somebody enters a med spa, and that experience is the entire reason your business exists.

We understand that. We're not trying to replace it. We're trying to enhance it.

Let me walk you through something

Picture this. A patient walks into your med spa for her appointment. You have two people at the front desk and both of them are on the phone. They look up, wave a finger, and say "one minute, we'll be with you in just a second." She stands there awkwardly for two minutes while they finish.

Now picture the same patient walks in. The phone is being handled. Your front desk looks up immediately. "Oh my gosh, hey Kelly. How are you? How are the kids? I heard you just moved, how's that going?"

Which one of those patients is more likely to book her next treatment before she leaves? Which one is more likely to add on the upgrade you just launched? Which one is going to tell her friends about your med spa?

It's the same patient, the same staff, the same physical room. The only difference is whether the front desk had the bandwidth to actually be present with her instead of being pulled in three directions by ringing phones.

Your front desk is arguably the highest-leverage piece of your med spa. They are the human face of your business and they build the relationships that turn first-time patients into ten-year patients.
